Pakistan Set to Take Part in U.S.-Iran Negotiations
(MENAFN) Pakistan has secured an invitation to high-stakes diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the United States, scheduled for later this week in Türkiye’s largest city, a South Asian government official confirmed.
"Pakistan has received the invitation for the upcoming talks between Iran and the United States," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said, according to Pakistani media.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is anticipated to attend the critical discussions.
US media outlets previously reported that senior representatives from Washington and Tehran are arranging an uncommon direct encounter in Istanbul on Friday.
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times disclosed Monday that the scheduled session would convene US special envoy Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, with Türkiye serving as host nation and delegates from Qatar, Egypt and additional regional powers expected to participate.
Official verification of the meeting location remains pending.
Discussions are projected to address concurrent agenda items, encompassing Iran's nuclear development activities and comprehensive US stipulations concerning missile capabilities and regional proxy forces, despite substantial disagreements persisting between both parties.
