Venezuela’s Interim Leader Holds Talks with U.S. Envoy
(MENAFN) Venezuela's interim leader Delcy Rodriguez conducted talks with Laura Dogu, the U.S. Venezuela Affairs Unit charge d'affaires, in Caracas on Monday, marking a critical diplomatic engagement following last month's deadly military confrontation.
Communication and Information Minister Miguel Perez Pirela confirmed the encounter via social media, stating "The meeting took place within the framework of the working agenda between the two countries."
The diplomatic session occurs approximately four weeks after a U.S. military operation struck Venezuela, resulting in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro alongside his spouse, Cilia Flores. The assault left more than 100 fatalities and numerous casualties in its wake.
While Rodriguez has condemned the American military action as a grave breach of global legal standards, she emphasized that maintaining domestic order remains the administration's foremost concern.
"We are going face-to-face. We are entering a diplomatic battle," Rodriguez declared.
The high-stakes meeting signals Venezuela's determination to pursue diplomatic channels despite the devastating recent hostilities between the two nations.
