DIMO Delivers State-Of-The-Art Floodlighting For SSC Daynight Cricket
The project strengthens DIMO's long-standing partnership with Sri Lanka Cricket, which dates back to the 1980s when the company pioneered the country's first stadium floodlighting system. To date, DIMO has delivered floodlighting solutions for four international cricket stadiums, contributing to four of the five such systems in Sri Lanka.
Designed to meet stringent ICC and broadcast standards, the new system significantly enhances player visibility, broadcast quality, and spectator experience. It features advanced LED luminaires operating at 5,700 Kelvin with a colour rendering index of 90, closely replicating natural daylight for superior clarity and accurate colour reproduction. The flicker-free design fully supports HD, 4K, and 8K broadcasts, ensuring clear live action, replays, and DRS reviews.
The installation includes 630 high-performance LED fixtures across six high-mast towers, supported by a 62 km cable network, with each tower equipped with a dedicated control room. A DMX-based lighting control system enables centralised and remote operation, dimming, and dynamic lighting effects. Optimised optics and mounting heights ensure uniform light distribution while minimising glare and shadows. The LED solution delivers lower energy consumption, reduced heat output, and an environmentally friendly, mercury-free profile.
DIMO's in-house Lighting Solutions team managed the entire project lifecycle, from photometric design to civil, mechanical, and electrical works, completing the project within four months ahead of the World Cup. A comprehensive after-sales maintenance framework has also been implemented to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
The project underscores DIMO's capability to deliver complex, international-standard lighting infrastructure at a national scale.
