China, Algeria Strengthen Aerospace Partnership
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the collaboration between China and Algeria on Saturday, celebrating the successful launch of an Algerian remote sensing satellite from Jiuquan in northwest China, according to a news agency.
Xi conveyed his congratulations to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune after the satellite was placed into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center using a Long March-2C carrier rocket.
The Chinese leader described the Algerian remote sensing satellite project, following the earlier launch of an Algerian communication satellite, as another achievement in China-Algeria aerospace cooperation. He noted that it represents an important demonstration of the "comprehensive strategic partnership" between the two nations.
Xi emphasized his strong commitment to enhancing China-Algeria relations and expressed his readiness to collaborate with Tebboune to further develop the "comprehensive strategic partnership."
The rocket took off at 12:01 pm local time on Saturday (0401 GMT), successfully placing the AlSat-3B satellite into its planned orbit.
Developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, part of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the satellite is designed primarily for "land planning" as well as "disaster prevention and mitigation."
This launch forms part of Algeria’s remote sensing satellite system program, a collaborative effort between the China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a CASC subsidiary, and the Algerian Space Agency.
