Blast Leaves Six Dead in Iran

(MENAFN) At least six fatalities and numerous injuries resulted from separate detonations Saturday in southern and southwestern Iran, according to local media sources.

A news agency reported the blast occurred at a four-unit residential complex in the Kianshahr neighborhood of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran, killing five people due to failure to observe safety precautions.

Officials from the Ahvaz Municipality Fire Department and Safety Services attributed the explosion to a rupture in the municipal gas distribution system.

In a distinct incident, an unknown substance exploded in an eight-story building located in an alley off Moallem Boulevard in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, according to a news agency.

A four-year-old girl was killed in the explosion, and about 14 other people were injured.

More than 10 vehicles parked near the building were also damaged to varying degrees.

Emergency response teams mobilized to both disaster sites, with firefighters and medical personnel working to treat the wounded and secure the affected areas. Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents to determine precise causes and assess whether additional safety violations contributed to the tragedies. The Bandar Abbas explosion's origin remains under investigation, with forensic teams examining debris and witness accounts to identify the substance responsible for the deadly blast that claimed the young child's life and left over a dozen others requiring medical attention.
