Erdogan Confident in Turkic World’s 21st-Century Influence
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed on Thursday his firm belief that the Turkic world will leave a significant impact on this century.
"As long as we stand heart to heart, God willing, we are confident we will leave the Turkish world’s mark on this century," Erdogan stated during a joint press briefing with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Ankara.
Erdogan highlighted that over the last ten years, Türkiye has tripled its bilateral commerce with Uzbekistan. "I believe we will soon reach our new $5 billion target," he noted, signaling optimism about the growing economic partnership.
Pointing to investments surpassing $5 billion, Erdogan mentioned that Turkish enterprises already rank among the top three investors in Uzbekistan and expressed his aspiration for even greater achievements.
“As Türkiye, we are determined to do our utmost to contribute to the prosperity of Uzbekistan and our ancestral homeland, Central Asia,” the president added, emphasizing his country’s commitment to regional development.
Reflecting on recent diplomatic engagements, Erdogan mentioned that they had just concluded the fourth session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council with Mirziyoyev and expressed pleasure in welcoming him and his delegation to what he called their “second home.”
Erdogan also noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Eternal Friendship and Cooperation, signed in 1996. He praised Uzbekistan, under Mirziyoyev’s decisive leadership and state traditions, for playing a leading role in regional integration across Central Asia.
He further remarked that Türkiye closely monitors Uzbekistan’s steadily rising international stature, takes pride in its progress, and continues to offer sincere support.
