Russian, Ukrainian Officials Claimed Casualties in Overnight Attacks
(MENAFN) Russian and Ukrainian authorities reported deaths, injuries, and damage following an exchange of overnight air attacks on Wednesday, as fighting continues nearly three years after the war began in February 2022, despite ongoing US-backed diplomatic efforts.
Ukrainian officials said Russian missile strikes during the night resulted in civilian casualties in multiple regions. Authorities reported that two people were killed and six others wounded, while additional residents later sought medical treatment. Kyiv region Governor Mykola Kalashnyk said four more individuals required medical assistance after the attack.
“In the Belogorod community, two of our fellow countrymen, a man and a woman, were killed as a result of an attack,” he said.
Separately, Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Oleksandr Vilkul reported injuries in the city of Kryvyi Rih following a strike on infrastructure.
“Two people were injured as a result of a ballistic missile attack on an infrastructure facility in our city,” he wrote on Telegram.
Ukrainian media also reported that alleged “guerilla” activity disrupted electricity supplies at a metallurgical plant in Russia’s Udmurtia region, partially cutting off power to the facility.
On the Russian side, officials said Ukrainian drone attacks caused injuries and damage overnight. Authorities reported that two people were wounded—one in the Bryansk region and another in the city of Sevastopol. Voronezh region Governor Aleksandr Gusev additionally confirmed that a fire broke out at an oil depot, which he said was triggered by a Ukrainian strike.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions during the night, underscoring the intensity of the aerial exchange.
