IRGC Signals Readiness to Counter US, Israeli Threats

(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared that it remains fully prepared, with its “finger on the trigger,” to repel any hostile action from the United States or Israel. This warning was issued by the corps’ commander, General Mohammad Pakpour, shortly after Tehran succeeded in bringing weeks of widespread demonstrations under control.

The disturbances began in late December, initially driven by surging prices and the sharp devaluation of the national currency, before rapidly escalating into destructive riots coupled with political slogans.

Iranian officials stated that the prolonged clashes resulted in at least 3,000 fatalities, while accusing Washington and Tel Aviv of provoking the chaos. During this period, US President Donald Trump issued multiple warnings toward Tehran, at one stage telling Iranian protesters that “help is on its way.”

Pakpour cautioned that Iran’s rivals would face “painful” consequences if they launched any assault, according to a news agency, which cited his remarks on Saturday.

He further advised the US and Israel to avoid “any miscalculations,” vowing that any potential attacker would suffer a “painful and regrettable fate.” Emphasizing the IRGC’s stance, he underlined that the force is “more ready than ever, finger on the trigger” to safeguard the nation.

Following a series of forceful statements about possible military action against Iran, President Trump appeared to soften his tone last weekend, saying he had “convinced” himself not to proceed with an attack. His comment came amid media reports claiming that American strikes on the Islamic Republic were imminent.

Nevertheless, when addressing journalists on Friday, Trump remarked that he was still closely “watching” developments inside the country.
