Türkiye's Stock Exchange Opens Week Lower


(MENAFN) Türkiye’s benchmark BIST 100 index began the week on a weaker footing Monday, dropping 0.49%, or 63.38 points, to 12,929.33 in early trading.

The pullback followed a strong finish last week. On Friday, the BIST 100 climbed 1.1% to end at a record 12,992.71 points, fueled by heavy turnover totaling 181.6 billion liras ($4.18 billion).

By 9:50 a.m. local time (0650 GMT), currency markets showed the U.S. dollar trading at 43.3825 liras, while the euro stood at 51.4855 liras and the British pound at 59.3325 liras.

In commodities, gold prices surged, with an ounce valued at $5,109.9, as Brent crude oil changed hands at $65.55 per barrel.
