YPG/SDF attacks Aleppo province in northern Syria

(MENAFN) The YPG/SDF carried out drone and rocket attacks in Aleppo province in northern Syria on Sunday.

More than 15 explosive drones were launched at the town of Sarrin and nearby villages, causing damage to civilian homes and vehicles. Additionally, a mortar shell fired from SDF-controlled areas in Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) struck the entrance of al-Jamal village in the Jarabulus countryside. A rocket fired by the SDF also hit a house in al-Hawi, west of the Euphrates River. No injuries were reported.

The attacks occurred one day after the Syrian government extended a ceasefire with the SDF for 15 days. The extension supports a US operation to evacuate ISIS detainees from SDF-run prisons and transfer them to Iraq.

Earlier, the Syrian government had noted that a four-day truce with the SDF had ended and that it was assessing next steps. On Tuesday, the US Central Command began a mission to move ISIS fighters from northeastern Syria to Iraq, ensuring they remain in secure facilities.

The operation started with the relocation of 150 detainees from Hasakah province, with plans to eventually transfer up to 7,000 fighters to Iraqi-controlled locations.
