Trump Says Secret Weapon Used in Venezuela Raid
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump disclosed that American forces deployed a classified new weapon to neutralize Venezuela's air defense infrastructure during the Caracas operation that resulted in the apprehension of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his spouse.
On January 3, American special operations forces seized Maduro from his residential compound in an operation that concluded without fatalities or aircraft losses. The Pentagon confirmed that over 150 aircraft and helicopters participated in the mission.
During a Saturday interview with media, Trump revealed the enigmatic weapon had "made [enemy] equipment not work."
"The Discombobulator. I'm not allowed to talk about it," Trump stated. "They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off. We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked," he continued.
Seven US military personnel sustained injuries during the operation, and one helicopter suffered damage while maintaining operational capability. Numerous reports have indicated that American forces may have employed jamming systems to incapacitate radar installations or compel them to expose their positions.
Maduro and his spouse, Cilia Flores, entered not guilty pleas to drug-trafficking and weapons charges during their appearance before a New York judge.
