Israeli forces murder Palestinian, take hostages in West Bank

(MENAFN) Israeli forces killed a Palestinian and detained 11 others in the West Bank on Sunday amid ongoing military escalation in the occupied territory, local sources and medics reported.
The Health Ministry confirmed that Ammar Hijazi, 34, was killed by Israeli fire in the Ayoun al-Haramiya area, north of Ramallah.

According to reports, Hijazi was critically wounded after Israeli police opened fire on his vehicle near the Ayoun al-Haramiya junction and was later pronounced dead. Israeli authorities stated the shooting occurred after the driver allegedly failed to comply with orders to stop.

In separate operations, Israeli forces raided the Al-Arroub refugee camp north of Hebron, detaining four Palestinian brothers. Additional arrests included five Palestinians from the Aktaba suburb east of Tulkarem and the towns of Kafr Zibad and Kafr Abboush, while a young man was detained in Kafr Dan west of Jenin. In Deir Ghassaneh, northwest of Ramallah, a freed prisoner was also taken during a home search.

Palestinian sources indicate that since October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have murdered at least 1,109 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, injured nearly 11,000, and detained 21,000. The International Court of Justice ruled in July that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and called for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
