Raqqa Reels as Years of Neglect Cripple Services

(MENAFN) Prolonged abandonment and devastation attributed to the YPG/SDF terror organization have left vast areas of Syria’s Raqqa province grappling with the breakdown of essential public utilities, most notably within the schooling system, according to a report aired Friday a broadcaster.

The broadcast highlighted extensive deterioration of educational facilities throughout the province, as locals recounted how years of disregard denied tens of thousands of children the opportunity to receive adequate schooling.

Community members who spoke in the report urged swift rebuilding initiatives so that pupils can finally resume lessons in classrooms after enduring prolonged interruptions and worsening academic environments.

They further emphasized a steep deterioration in medical care, noting that numerous hospitals have ceased functioning as a result of neglect, coupled with acute deficiencies in fundamental services.

Residents added that the dilapidated state of main roadways has intensified everyday difficulties, limiting transportation and inflicting physical damage on vehicles.

Raqqa Governor Abdul Rahman Salameh stated that regional authorities have started rolling out rehabilitation strategies designed to restore vital fields, such as education, health services, and municipal utilities.

He noted that repairing critical infrastructure continues to be a central objective to bolster stability and enhance living standards for people throughout the province.
On Sunday, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa declared a ceasefire deal with the SDF aimed at incorporating its fighters into government institutions.
