Morocco Secures AFCON Final Spot

(MENAFN) Host nation Morocco has reached the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final after defeating Nigeria in a tense penalty shootout, following a scoreless draw on Wednesday.

Despite 90 minutes of regulation play and extra time, neither side managed to find the net, leaving the outcome to be decided at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The Atlas Lions clinched their place in the final with a 4-2 victory in the shootout. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou proved decisive, saving two Nigerian attempts from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi.

Hamza Igamane was the sole Moroccan player to miss his penalty, but his teammates ensured the win by converting their remaining shots.

Morocco will now face Senegal in Sunday’s final at the same venue, setting up a highly anticipated clash for the continental crown.
