Senegal Clinches Back-to-Back AFCON Titles
(MENAFN) Senegal captured the 35th Africa Cup of Nations crown on Sunday, edging hosts Morocco 1-0 after extra time in a tense and dramatic final at the 69,500-seat Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The contest remained scoreless through regular time, with both sides locked in a tactical battle. In the 95th minute, Morocco were awarded a penalty following a VAR review that judged Senegal defender Malick Diouf to have fouled Brahim Diaz inside the box.
