China Rebuffs Trump’s Davos Comments on Renewable Energy Policies

(MENAFN) China on Thursday rejected comments made by US President Donald Trump regarding its renewable energy policies, stressing that its climate initiatives and contributions to global green development are “evident to all.”

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday, Trump claimed, “China makes almost all the windmills and yet I haven’t been able to find any wind farms in China” and added, “China sells them to the stupid people that buy them.”

In response, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun told reporters that Beijing has built the world’s “most comprehensive carbon reduction policy framework and the largest renewable energy system,” according to media.

Guo emphasized that China has “actively shared the fruits of its green development with the international community.” He added that as a “responsible major developing country,” Beijing is prepared to cooperate with global partners to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon growth and jointly create a “clean and beautiful world.”

Addressing Trump’s separate assertion that the United States will remain “the crypto capital of the world,” Guo noted that China has “always been actively carrying out multilateral and bilateral monetary and financial cooperation, participating in global macroeconomic policy coordination and the formulation of international financial rules.”
