Clashes restart in Hasakah, Ayn al-Arab following Syrian army movements
(MENAFN) Clashes reignite on Tuesday around Syria’s Hasakah province and in the southern areas of Ayn al-Arab after a temporary lull, following the Syrian Army’s advance east of the Euphrates River, according to reports.
The fighting initially breaks out on Monday as Syrian Army forces move east under a ceasefire and full integration agreement with the YPG/SDF group. Correspondents report that clashes resume around 12:15 pm local time (0915 GMT) in Hasakah province, focusing on Mount Abdulaziz, southeast of the city.
The Syrian Army maintains deployments at four locations around Hasakah, including a position near the city center entrance.
In Ayn al-Arab, reports indicate the Syrian Army sets a 1 pm local deadline for the group to withdraw from the Karakozak Bridge, roughly 30 kilometers southwest of the town center, which connects Manbij to the Euphrates’ eastern bank. After the deadline passes, clashes restart around the bridge and near Sirrin town’s entrance.
Fighting continues intermittently overnight in both areas but largely subsides by morning. Similarly, confrontations between Syrian Army forces and the group at Aktan Prison, north of Raqqa city center, also ease.
The Syrian Army continues sending reinforcements to both regions to maintain control and secure strategic positions.
