Russia gets US draft for proposed Gaza Board of Peace

(MENAFN) Russia says it receives a draft framework from the United States outlining the proposed Board of Peace on Gaza, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announces during a briefing.

He tells reporters, "We recently received specific proposals, a draft charter for this structure, and so on."

Lavrov emphasizes that, despite widespread international discussion surrounding recent US moves, Moscow considers the current US administration to be guided by practical considerations when dealing with international alliances.

"I assure you that the administration of (US President) Donald Trump --despite all the actions currently being widely discussed in the world -- is an administration of pragmatists. And it realizes the need not just to unite a large number of (countries) under its command, but also to fully take into account their legitimate interests," he says.

The announcement follows a statement made last week by Trump, who unveils plans for establishing a Board of Peace focused on Gaza and extends invitations to several countries, including Russia and Belarus, to take part in the initiative.
