Syrians begin going back to their houses in Deir Hafir

(MENAFN) Civilians are returning to Deir Hafir, a town in eastern Aleppo, after it was cleared of the YPG/SDF terror group. Displaced for years, residents expressed both joy and relief as they made their way back home.

Kays Abu Hamdan described returning as “an indescribable happiness,” calling the liberation a blessing for all Syrians. Juma Hammadi said he was finally reunited with his home after years of suffering and celebrated the moment as the happiest day of his life. Ahmed Mustafa recalled the harsh conditions that forced families to flee to Aleppo, adding that they returned immediately once they learned their town had been liberated. Halit Abu Mustafa and Hasan Abu Musa echoed the sentiment of overwhelming emotion and renewed hope for lasting peace and safety.

The Syrian Army announced on Saturday that it had secured full control over Deir Hafir and Maskanah, following the YPG/SDF’s withdrawal east of the Euphrates. Efforts are now underway to restore normal life, with returning civilians beginning to rebuild their homes and communities.
