Syria's Pres.: Kurds Are Integral Part Of Syrian People

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Jan 9 (KUNA) -- Syria's President Ahmad al-Sharaa emphasized Friday that Kurds are an integral part of the Syrian people and his government is committed to defending their rights.
This came in a phone call with leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Masoud Barzani.
During the call, they reviewed the recent developments in Syria and the region and both sides underlined the importance of strengthening stability and fostering cooperation.
President al-Sharaa reaffirmed the government's full commitment to guaranteeing Kurds' national, political, and civil rights on an equal basis with all other components of Syrian People, without discrimination.'
Barzani welcomed this position and expressed support for Syrians' efforts to build an inclusive state for all its citizens.
The two leaders also agreed on the need for continued coordination and consultation to advance shared interests and promote civil peace. (end)
