Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit Lebanon
(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, announced on Wednesday that he will travel to Lebanon the following day to enhance cooperation between the two nations, according to a semi-official news agency.
"We seek to expand ties, and the other side has the same motivations," Araghchi stated, noting that he will be accompanied by an economic delegation during the trip.
Back in December, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji declined an invitation from Araghchi to visit Tehran. Instead, Rajji suggested that any meeting should take place in a mutually agreed neutral country.
In his written response, Rajji clarified that his refusal was not a rejection of dialogue. He emphasized Lebanon’s willingness to open a new chapter of constructive relations with Iran, grounded in mutual respect for sovereignty, independence, and non-interference in domestic affairs. Rajji also affirmed that Araghchi would always be welcome in Lebanon.
