Invasion of Venezuela cause injury of seven US troops

(MENAFN) Seven US service members were injured during the recent military operation in Venezuela aimed at capturing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Of those injured, five have already returned to duty, while two are still recovering. Officials confirmed that all are receiving medical care and are expected to recover fully.

The mission, carried out over the weekend, involved extensive airstrikes on northern Venezuelan targets, including air defense systems and communications infrastructure, along with a special operations raid in Caracas. Both Maduro and Flores were taken into US custody and pleaded not guilty during their initial court hearing on charges related to drugs and weapons.

US authorities have framed the operation as part of a renewed enforcement of the Monroe Doctrine and efforts to counter alleged narco-trafficking and corruption, while also tying the mission to securing US influence over Venezuela’s oil resources.
