Poland Willing to Spearhead Ukraine Logistics After Peace Deal

(MENAFN) Poland announced Tuesday its commitment to spearhead logistical operations supporting Ukraine should a peace agreement with Russia materialize, signaling a major role in post-conflict stabilization efforts.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed the pledge following consultations at the Coalition of the Willing summit in Paris, where participating nations outlined a framework assigning each critical reconstruction and security task to a specific "national leader." Tusk declared that Poland's involvement in peace negotiations "must be key and fundamental."

The premier highlighted how US representatives at the Paris discussions cited Poland as an exemplary case of post-communist transformation, hinting that Ukraine could "follow the Polish path" once a sustainable peace accord takes hold.

During the summit, Washington and its European partners reached consensus on creating a ceasefire oversight system for Ukraine under US direction, forming part of an expansive security guarantee structure designed to anchor long-term stability.

The gathering convened leaders and high-ranking representatives from 35 nations, alongside officials from NATO, the EU, and Ukraine.

Tusk explained that deliberations centered on concrete implementation strategies, particularly security assurances and national responsibilities, confirming Warsaw's readiness to assume principal duties—especially logistical coordination—though he clarified that Polish forces would not be stationed on Ukrainian territory.

He emphasized that achieving peace necessitates sustained pressure on Russia and that progress hinges on the aggressor's genuine willingness to enter negotiations, adopting a measured stance by acknowledging it was premature to declare significant diplomatic victories.

Tusk further disclosed plans to convene with Polish President Karol Nawrocki before week's end to delineate responsibilities between governmental and presidential authorities as diplomatic engagement intensifies.
