Russia advises its citizens to avoid travelling to Venezuela
(MENAFN) Russia’s Embassy in Caracas on Monday issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to refrain from traveling to Venezuela “unless absolutely necessary.”
The advisory, posted through the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Situation and Crisis Center, cited “US armed aggression against Venezuela and threats of further attacks” as the reason for the warning.
The notice follows a large-scale US operation on Saturday that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were subsequently flown to the United States to face criminal charges in New York. Reports cited by international media indicate that around 80 people were killed during the operation.
Maduro and Flores are currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, facing federal charges related to drug trafficking and alleged collaboration with groups designated as terrorist organizations. Both have denied the allegations, and Venezuelan officials in Caracas have demanded their release.
