Russia Reports Capture of Podoly Village in Kharkiv

(MENAFN) Russia announced on Sunday that its forces had taken control of a village in northeastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv province.

According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, troops seized Podoly, located roughly 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) east of the front-line town of Kupiansk.

Earlier the same day, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian units had carried out 14 attacks against its positions near eight settlements in the Kupiansk sector.

The update listed Kucherivka, Kurylivka, and Petropavlivka among the targeted areas, all situated close to Podoly, though the village itself was not mentioned.

Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to Russia’s assertion, and independent confirmation remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict, now approaching its fifth year.
