Zelenskyy dismisses head of Ukraine’s border guard service
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Serhii Deineko, the head of the State Border Guard Service, according to a presidential decree issued Sunday, reports say.
In an evening address on Friday, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine would undergo “substantial” internal reforms aimed at strengthening national resilience. He said a new leader for the border service would be appointed and that nominations from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko are awaited.
Deineko, who led the service for over six years, will continue working within the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, Zelenskyy’s statement added.
Meanwhile, in a separate decree, Zelenskyy named Valerii Vavryniuk, the service’s first deputy, as the acting head of the State Border Guard Service.
