Mosikidi Toka

Toka is a researcher in bioacoustics, ecoacoustics, mountain soundscapes and behavioural ecology.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in soundscape ecology.
He is affiliated to the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), a long-term environmental observation and research facility of the National Research Foundation (NRF).
Toka's research has seen him based at South Africa's Golden Gate Highlands National Park wetland, in the high lying grassland biome, documenting the bird diversity and vocal activity patterns of bird species in the wetland and using less invasive techniques such as“passive acoustic monitoring” to document the wetland birds.
