Meta buys Chinese-founded AI startup Manus to expand AI initiatives

(MENAFN) Meta announced on Tuesday the acquisition of Chinese-founded AI startup Manus, reinforcing its ongoing investments in artificial intelligence.

"We are excited to announce that Manus is joining Meta to bring a leading agent to billions of people and unlock opportunities for businesses across our products," Meta said in a statement.

Founded in China and later relocated to Singapore, Manus introduced its first general AI agent earlier this year, capable of performing complex tasks such as data analysis, coding, and market research. Within eight months, the company reported annual revenue exceeding $100 million, with a run rate surpassing $125 million.

Meta stated that the acquisition aims to enhance AI-driven innovation for businesses and integrate advanced automation into its consumer and enterprise products, including the Meta AI assistant. "Manus is already serving the daily needs of millions of users and businesses worldwide ... We plan to scale this service to many more businesses," the company added.

According to reports, the deal is valued at over $2 billion.
