Women’s Health, Maternal Care Witnesses Improvement in China

(MENAFN) Women across China experienced ongoing advancements in overall well-being throughout 2024, accompanied by strengthened maternal healthcare provisions.

This information comes from a statistical monitoring document issued on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics, as reported by a news agency.

The report highlighted that the maternal death rate stood at 14.3 per 100,000 in 2024, reflecting a 5.3 percent decline compared to 2023.

These figures were part of the assessment of the China National Program for Women's Development (2021-2030).

Additionally, the rate of premarital medical examinations climbed to 77.1 percent in 2024, marking a 0.5 percentage point increase from the previous year, according to the same report.

During 2024, authorities in China introduced a review mechanism aimed at directing regional medical and health facilities to refine their treatment frameworks and strengthen their ability to care for expectant and postpartum women facing urgent or critical conditions.

This initiative contributed to the creation of a broad emergency response network that is layered and effectively coordinated. As a result, emergency medical services for pregnant women have been enhanced, ensuring greater protection and safety, the report emphasized.
