Syria extends condolences to Turkey after ISIS attack kills officers
(MENAFN) Syria extended condolences to Ankara on Monday following the deaths of three Turkish security officers during an operation targeting the ISIS (Daesh) terror group in northwestern Türkiye.
An Interior Ministry statement expressed “sincere condolences and sympathy to the Republic of Türkiye” for the loss of the officers in clashes with ISIS in the city of Yalova. The statement noted that the incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by the terror group to regional stability.
The ministry emphasized the necessity “to continue uprooting terrorist organizations in all their forms” and underlined the importance of strengthening both regional and international coordination to combat these groups, protect civilians, and reinforce security and stability.
Turkish authorities carried out the operation early Monday in Yalova, resulting in six ISIS members being killed. Three police officers lost their lives and eight others were injured, according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
