Syrian Democratic Forces Attack Leaves Five Dead in Aleppo

(MENAFN) Casualties from a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) assault targeting northern Aleppo Monday climbed to five fatalities, local authorities confirmed, as tensions escalate in the region.

An official from Aleppo Health Directorate's Media Office informed state-operated media that nine individuals sustained injuries in the offensive, which struck residential districts throughout the city.

SDF combatants late Monday unleashed machine-gun fire and mortar bombardment on a checkpoint positioned between the Shayhan and al-Layramoun roundabouts, alongside al-Razi Hospital, according to reports.

The Syrian Defense Ministry announced several members of the organization were neutralized following the assault.

The SDF remains under the control of the terrorist organization YPG, the Syrian affiliate of the terrorist PKK.

March 10 marked the Syrian presidency's announcement of an agreement facilitating the SDF's integration into state institutions, reinforcing the nation's territorial integrity while rejecting any partition attempts.

Syrian authorities assert that throughout subsequent months, the SDF has demonstrated zero commitment toward fulfilling the agreement's stipulations.

The Syrian government has amplified security operations since the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime last December, concluding 24 years of authoritarian rule.
