From 'Fishing Trip' To Massacre: Inside The Bondi Beach Attack
Fresh revelations have surfaced in the investigation into the deadly attack at Australia's popular tourist spot, Bondi Beach. Authorities say 24-year-old Naveed Akram, who had told his mother he was heading out to fish, instead carried out a mass shooting alongside his father, Sajid Akram, targeting a Jewish community event.
According to security sources, Naveed left home on Sunday, December 14, after informing his mother by phone that he would be back soon. Shortly afterward, gunfire erupted at the Jewish gathering near Bondi Beach, turning a scene of celebration into chaos and bloodshed. Fifteen people were killed and more than fifty injured, including two police officers.
Investigators revealed that Sajid Akram had returned to Australia last month from the Philippines with his son. Australian security agencies believe the attack was not an isolated incident but part of a broader international extremist plot. The father and son reportedly traveled to the Philippines about a month before the attack, where they allegedly received military-style militant training.

The two returned to Sydney on November 28 and carried out the attack just days later.
The investigation confirms that only the Jewish community event was targeted. Sajid Akram was killed during a police response, while ten of the injured remain in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police in Hyderabad, India, have confirmed Sajid Akram's Indian citizenship. The 50-year-old was originally from Telangana and moved to Australia nearly 27 years ago on a student visa. He later married an Italian woman and acquired Australian citizenship. Naveed Akram was born in Australia and had never visited India.
