PKK/YPG raid in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Leaves one dead, eleven captured
(MENAFN) The PKK/YPG terrorist group launched a violent operation in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, killing one person and detaining at least 11 others, according to local sources. The raid took place in the town of al-Susah, where civilians were reportedly seized from their homes or workplaces.
Operating under the name Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria, the group had also detained 15 people the previous day during raids on villages in Ayn al-Arab in eastern Aleppo.
The PKK/YPG frequently carries out unlawful detentions and intimidation in areas under its control across Raqqa, Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor, and rural Aleppo. These operations exacerbate local instability and pose ongoing challenges for residents, humanitarian efforts, and regional security.
