Israeli Forces Detain Three in Southwest Syria
(MENAFN) Israeli troops apprehended three young men on Monday evening in Quneitra province, located in southwestern Syria, amid ongoing daily infringements on the Arab nation’s sovereignty.
According to a Syrian state broadcaster, the detentions occurred during a raid in Al-Hamidiyah, a town in the Quneitra countryside.
Neither Tel Aviv nor Damascus has provided an immediate official statement regarding the arrests.
Incursions by Israeli forces into southern Syria have intensified in recent weeks, becoming nearly routine and involving arrests as well as the setting up of temporary checkpoints, which has sparked public outrage.
Syrian citizens argue that these repeated Israeli transgressions are hindering efforts to reestablish stability and complicating the government’s attempts to attract foreign investment aimed at improving the country’s economic conditions.
Although the Syrian administration poses no direct threat to Israel, Israeli forces have persistently entered Syrian territory and carried out airstrikes, resulting in civilian casualties and the destruction of military facilities, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.
