Thailand Declares February 8 Date for General Election
(MENAFN) Thailand's electoral authority confirmed Monday that national parliamentary voting will proceed on February 8, 2026, following the dissolution of the lower legislative chamber.
The Election Commission greenlit the scheduling after a royal decree disbanded the House of Representatives, which became effective last Friday. The decree legally obligates the commission to orchestrate nationwide elections.
Candidate registration deadlines arrive in December, the commission stated. Both constituency representatives and party-list contenders must finalize their submissions before year's end, alongside political organizations declaring their prime ministerial candidates.
Thailand's two-ballot electoral framework allows qualified citizens to select 500 House of Representatives members. Those elected will fulfill four-year legislative terms.
