Kazakh President Tokayev plans three-day visit to Japan
(MENAFN) Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will travel to Japan for a three-day visit starting December 18, according to reports from the presidential press service.
During his trip, Tokayev is scheduled to meet with Emperor Naruhito, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and members of Japan’s business community. The Kazakh president will also "participate in the work of the Central Asia-Japan summit," as stated by the presidential office.
The summit will bring together all five Central Asian nations — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — in an event that Japan has been planning for more than 20 years at the ministerial level. The meeting was originally set to take place in Kazakhstan in August 2024 but was postponed following a megaquake advisory in Japan.
Japan’s leadership aims to strengthen relations with the region, enhance economic security, and expand cooperation across multiple sectors, reports noted.
