China, Brazil Launch Collaborative Space Laboratory
(MENAFN) China and Brazil are establishing a collaborative laboratory dedicated to astronomical observation and deep space exploration technologies, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation announced Wednesday.
The state-owned enterprise praised the partnership between its Network Communications Research Institute and Brazil's Federal University of Campina Grande and Federal University of Paraiba as creating the China–Brazil laboratory for radio astronomy technology. The agreement establishes crucial groundwork and delivers a vital platform for future international scientific and technological exchanges alongside cooperative ventures, the statement noted.
The facility will investigate frontier technologies, accelerate international scientific collaboration, and coordinate large-scale worldwide research initiatives, allowing science and technology innovation to fuel global development and modernization efforts, the corporation added.
Separately, China's commercial satellite network, Spacesail, will deliver satellite communication capabilities to Brazil and broadband internet connectivity to isolated and underserved areas, a state news agency reported.
Spacesail operates as a low-Earth-orbit constellation featuring comprehensive frequency bands and a multi-layer, multi-orbit architecture. Its commercial network deployment officially began last August. The constellation is projected to commence commercial operations in Brazil by 2026.
