Russia Says China Partnership Critical to Global Stability

(MENAFN) Global equilibrium hinges on the diplomatic alliance between Moscow and Beijing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared Wednesday.

Lavrov underscored the "special significance of the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination" while delivering remarks to the Federal Assembly.

The foreign minister highlighted recent high-level exchanges demonstrating the partnership's depth. Chinese President Xi Jinping traveled to the Russian capital in May, participating in commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War victory. Russian President Vladimir Putin reciprocated by attending September's military parade in China, marking eight decades since victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

"Both countries played a decisive role in those momentous events of the last century," he said.

Lavrov characterized BRICS—whose international footprint continues expanding—as a forum that represents the cultural and civilizational diversity of the contemporary world.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization functions according to comparable frameworks as BRICS, Lavrov noted, emphasizing its emergence as a fundamental cornerstone of the developing multipolar global architecture.
