Trump Plans to Reveal Gaza “Board of Peace” Next Year
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the individuals selected for his Gaza “Board of Peace” will be revealed at the beginning of next year, emphasizing that the group will consist of prominent international figures and high-ranking decision-makers.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated, "We'll do it early next year, and the Board of Peace are going to...it'll be one of the most legendary boards ever."
He added that global leaders are eager to participate, saying, "They want to all do it. Basically, it'll be the heads of the most important countries. They all want to be on (it)."
The board is a central feature of Trump’s proposed ceasefire framework for the blockaded Gaza Strip, although significant aspects—such as the identities of its members—have not yet been disclosed. Under the plan, the board is intended to have a supportive function in Gaza’s governance once the ceasefire arrangement is fully implemented.
Trump has also confirmed that he intends to act as the chairman of the group.
Since October 2023, Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of more than 70,000 Palestinians—predominantly women and children—and left nearly 171,000 others wounded in Gaza during a conflict lasting over two years, which paused when the ceasefire agreement came into effect on Oct. 10.
