Juan Zahir Naranjo Cáceres is a Colombian-Australian scholar and lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia), where he teaches International Justice and Human Rights. He is a PhD candidate in Political Science, International Relations, and Constitutional Law. His research examines constitutional governance, democratic resilience, and judicial institutions in comparative and global perspective, drawing connections between Latin America, Australia, and broader international contexts.
He has published in Global Discourse (Bristol University Press) and Globalizations (Taylor & Francis), and regularly contributes analytical commentary to leading policy outlets such as the Lowy Institute's Interpreter and the Australian Institute of International Affairs. His recent works explore the role of courts in sustaining democratic governance, the challenges of regional integration in Latin America, and the erosion of moral authority in international institutions.
He also served as Guest Editor for the special issue Regional Integration in Latin America: Critical Perspectives in the Time of Populism in Global Discourse (Bristol University Press Digital, 2024–2025).
