Zelensky Says Ukraine Has No Immediate Chance To Join NATO

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged that his country currently has no chance of joining NATO, citing opposition from multiple nations and Russia's staunch resistance.

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday told media that neither the United States nor several European countries currently see Ukraine as ready for NATO membership. He emphasized that Moscow would never accept the move, highlighting the ongoing geopolitical constraints facing Kyiv.

Zelensky also announced that Ukraine is preparing for national elections, which he said could take place within the next 60 to 90 days, signaling efforts to strengthen domestic democratic processes.

Russian Special Envoy Rodion Miroshnik criticized Zelensky's remarks, claiming that his comments on the upcoming elections represented a manipulation of legal frameworks and domestic law.

Analysts note that Ukraine's NATO aspirations have long been complicated by Moscow's opposition, ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, and debates within the alliance over admitting new members amid security concerns.

According to the reports, NATO continues to provide military and humanitarian support to Ukraine while avoiding commitments on full membership, reflecting a cautious stance.

Observers suggest Zelensky's public statements may aim to reassure citizens and international partners of Ukraine's democratic roadmap, while balancing the realities of geopolitical limitations.

Despite these challenges, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration, maintaining that reforms and elections are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen governance and international ties.
