The department has also developed projects, such as the smart operations room, and has registered 20 intellectual works related to safe driving and road safety. Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, reviewed these initiatives during a visit to the General Department of Traffic, accompanied by senior officers.

Dubai Police is developing several key projects to enhance traffic management and safety. These include a unified smart system to efficiently handle traffic violations, the Wasl project, which links traffic systems with local partners, a new digital platform for fines coupled with a driver behaviour monitoring system, and Area 56, a comprehensive digital environment designed to support all aspects of traffic operations.

With Dubai's population at 8.55 million in 2024, traffic remains a major challenge. Last year, 157 people died in accidents, mainly due to swerving, unsafe distances, negligence, stopping on roads, and running red lights. Patrols and awareness campaigns continue to reduce accidents, reaching over 20 million people digitally, with social media content alone recording 1.8 billion views.

Dubai Police has also activated electronic integration with traffic systems in GCC countries. This has made it easier to exchange information and process traffic violations between the UAE and neighbouring states.

Targeted campaigns increased recorded violations among delivery riders by 19.4 per cent in 2024, reaching 27,353 offences.

The department is preparing for challenges posed by population growth, increased vehicle traffic, and self-driving cars, aligning with Dubai Police's 2033 vision of zero road fatalities.

Lieutenant General Al Marri praised the achievements of the Traffic Department, noting that Dubai Police remains committed to improving road safety through smart planning, strong partnerships, modern technologies, and continuous awareness campaigns. He also commended the dedication of officers and staff, describing them as the foundation of excellence in traffic policing.
