Belgian Defense Minister praises Turkey’s expanding defense capabilities
(MENAFN) Belgian Minister of Defense Theo Francken praised Türkiye as a country with “rapidly growing defense potential and a dynamic industry renowned worldwide” during the Türkiye-Belgium Defense Industry Day in Brussels.
The event, organized by the Turkish Embassy, brought together Turkish and Belgian defense companies for presentations on strategic visions, investment priorities, and one-on-one business meetings. High-level attendees included Türkiye’s Ambassador to Belgium Gorkem Baris Tantekin, Türkiye’s NATO Permanent Representative Basat Ozturk, and Ertac Koca from Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries.
Tantekin emphasized that the cooperation strengthens a trust-based partnership between the two countries. Koca showcased Türkiye’s defense industry supply system and international collaboration opportunities.
Eight major Turkish defense companies, including ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, and TUSAS, participated alongside over 100 Belgian participants from industry, research, and government sectors.
The event precedes the Belgian Royal Economic Mission to Türkiye in May 2026, led by Princess Astrid, aimed at evaluating bilateral cooperation opportunities.
