Ukraine’s senior negotiator to brief Zelensky on dialogue with US
(MENAFN) Ukraine’s top negotiator Rustem Umerov said Monday that he will present President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a comprehensive update on the latest round of talks held with US officials in Florida.
In a post on X, Umerov said he will provide “full information on all aspects of the dialogue with the American side and all documents,” following meetings in Miami with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Umerov noted that his delegation—joined by Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov—focused on obtaining a clear picture of the discussions held in Moscow between the US envoys and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Washington’s proposed peace framework.
He said all partners must work toward a “dignified” resolution to the war, adding that Kyiv is pursuing every track “as intensively as possible.”
Zelenskyy said over the weekend that he held “substantive” phone talks with Witkoff and Kushner after the Miami consultations and is now awaiting a full in-person briefing, emphasizing that key issues cannot be handled over the phone and require close coordination between teams.
The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to London on Monday for meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as European capitals step up their involvement in the US-led peace push.
