EU reaffirms support for Syria on Assad regime anniversary

(MENAFN) On the first anniversary of Bashar Assad’s removal from power, officials in Europe restated their commitment to supporting Syria’s path forward, according to recent statements.

A message shared on a major social media platform reaffirmed this stance, noting: "A year after the fall of the Assad regime, Syrians are taking steps toward a more stable and inclusive future.
The EU stands with Syria, supporting a peaceful, Syrian-led process focused on justice, reconciliation and the rights of all Syrians."

According to reports, European authorities emphasized that their dedication remains centered on political engagement, urgent humanitarian efforts, and long-term recovery and rebuilding.

Assad, who led the country for nearly a quarter of a century, fled to Russia last December, bringing an end to the Baath Party’s decades-long rule. A transitional administration under President Ahmad al-Sharaa was established the following January.
