Syria Enters Renewed Era of National Rebuilding

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on Monday affirmed that the nation is embarking on a fresh stage of reconstruction “worthy of its present and its past,” as highlighted by a news agency.

His remarks coincided with the first anniversary of the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s rule.

Delivering his address after completing the dawn prayer at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Sharaa—dressed in military attire—assured citizens: “No one, no matter how great, will stand in our way. No obstacle will stop us, and together we will face every challenge, God willing.”

He further emphasized that, “From its north to its south, and from its east to its west, God willing, we will restore Syria strong again with a rebuilding worthy of its present and its past – a rebuilding worthy of Syria’s ancient heritage,” underscoring his vision of a nation restored across all regions.

Sharaa noted that the forthcoming stage will rest on “supporting the vulnerable, and ensuring justice among people,” outlining the guiding principles of the country’s future trajectory.

As reported by the news agency, the president also placed a piece of the Kaaba’s cloth—gifted to him by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—inside the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, an act symbolizing spiritual and political significance.

Assad, who had governed Syria for nearly a quarter-century, escaped to Russia last December, bringing an end to the Baath Party’s decades-long rule established in 1963.

Sharaa’s transitional government subsequently took shape in January.
