King Abdullah meets Kaja Kallas to strengthen strategic partnership

(MENAFN) His Majesty King Abdullah held talks with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas on Sunday to explore ways to enhance cooperation under the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership between Jordan and the EU, according to reports.

The discussion, which took place at Basman Palace, focused on maximizing economic opportunities, particularly ahead of the Jordan-EU Summit scheduled in Amman for January 2026, as well as a joint economic forum planned for next year involving investors from both sides. The aim is to expand collaboration in trade and investment, as stated by reports.

Regional developments were also addressed, with both parties emphasizing the importance of achieving lasting calm in the area and upholding the sovereignty of states. They reiterated that the two-state solution remains the only viable path to securing a just and comprehensive peace.

His Majesty stressed the need to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza fully, ensure the uninterrupted delivery of relief aid, and prevent unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, as noted in reports.

For her part, Kallas highlighted the EU’s commitment to its partnership with Jordan and the shared goal of deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, while acknowledging the Kingdom’s strategic role in the region. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh were also present at the meeting.
