DOHA, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Arab media representatives on Friday spoke highly of the levels of the teams participating in the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 in Qatar, after covering the first round of the championship.
Speaking to KUNA, they said the tournament has showed strong competition among the participating teams from the very beginning, commending the proper organization by Qatar at all levels and in all areas.
Egypt's Al-Jomhuria Managing Director Shareef Abdelqader said the championship has been the scene of fierce competitions, citing the match between Palestine and Qatar and the confrontation between Kuwait and Egypt.
Abdelqader added that the second round of the pan-Arab football event would be crucial for some teams that have failed to make positive results in the first round, lauding the performance of Jordan, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
The Egyptian journalist also extolled the large fan attendance in most of the World Cup stadiums hosting the tournament, while voicing admiration at the services provided by Qatar, including modern transportation and the festive stadium atmosphere.
Also speaking to KUNA, Saleh Bay Aboud, a journalist at Algeria's Al-Botola newspaper, said that the Arab Cup has proved to be an opportunity to bring together Arab countries in one forum to compete in a spirit of sportsmanship in the context of the most popular sport.
He pointed out the great response from the Arab peoples and fans and as well as their enthusiasm to attend the matches and support their national teams.
The Algerian journalist lauded the FIFA's decision to recognize the pan-Arab sports championship as a "big gain" for the championship.
For his part, Qatari sports journalist Ali Al-Salat said he was so proud of the tournament's opening ceremony, which featured amazing artistic shows that reflected the beauty and diversity of Arab culture.
He added that the ceremony combined Arab tradition and modern technologies to demonstrate an honorable image to the world showing Qatar's capability of innovating and organizing.
The 2025 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar is the 11th edition of the Arab Cup. The tournament is taking place in Qatar from 1 to 18 December 2025. This is the third time for Qatar to host the competition following the 1998 and 2021 editions. (end)
