(MENAFN) The European Union and Armenia have finalized a groundbreaking strategic partnership agreement designed to dramatically expand cooperation across political, economic, and security domains, Armenia's Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

Officials formalized the "Armenia-EU Partnership Strategic Agenda" on Tuesday during the 6th Armenia-EU Partnership Council session, marking a significant elevation in bilateral relations between the South Caucasus nation and the bloc, according to the ministry's statement.

Ararat Mirzoyan, Armenia's Foreign Minister, characterized the agreement as a critical advancement that complements the existing Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement while pushing the partnership to unprecedented strategic heights.

Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, highlighted the agenda's scope, noting it broadens collaboration into previously untapped areas such as governance reforms, rule of law implementation, economic modernization initiatives, enhanced security frameworks, and visa liberalization processes.

The ministry outlined that central objectives within the strategic framework prioritize bolstering Armenia's democratic institutions, safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and reinforcing the country's socio-economic stability and resilience against regional pressures.
