(MENAFN) Multiple IndiGo airline flights across India suffered major disruptions Wednesday due to technological failures and operational breakdowns, triggering widespread delays and cancellations, official sources confirmed.

Severe disorder erupted at the international airport in Hyderabad, located in India's southern region, where passengers remained stuck for extended periods. Parallel disruptions hit numerous IndiGo flights at Bengaluru airport in the southern state of Karnataka, with services either significantly delayed or scrapped entirely.

Following the flights' delays and cancellations, the airline said in a statement that its teams were working diligently to normalise operations as soon as possible.

In a statement, a spokesman at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport stated that some IndiGo flights at the airport were impacted due to airline-related technology and operational issues, resulting in multiple delays and cancellations.

IndiGo, India's largest domestic carrier by market share, operates hundreds of daily flights connecting major cities and regional destinations across the country. The airline has not disclosed the specific nature of the technical problems or provided an estimated timeline for full service restoration.

The disruptions affected one of India's busiest travel corridors during a peak travel period, compounding passenger frustration as alternative flight options remained limited across the affected airports.
